CARRINGTON

This project is an extension to a large family home that was originally built six years ago and designed by renowned Richard Kirk Architect. The existing award-winning home occupies a prime hilltop position, and its size, cutting-edge architectural design and inventive use of hard-wearing, natural materials make it remarkable unique in its context.

The homeowners wanted to update the home’s functionality as their children grew older, so certain adjustments and additions to key areas were required. Maintaining the same finish of the original build was imperative, and D Pearce Constructions exhibited our meticulous attention to detail, quality service and superior craftsmanship in every aspect of the extension.

To accommodate a growing family, an additional upstairs bedroom was appended to the western end of the home, and the existing garage was converted into a multi-purpose rumpus room/gym. The original patio boasts spectacular city views, but it was improved with the addition of a weatherproof pergola, which features a hand-made timber batten ceiling to filter daylight, and LED lighting strips that are perfect for night-time dining.

The property sits atop a hill in a leafy inner-city suburb of Brisbane and offers commanding views of the city skyline. The three-storey home comes complete with a fabulous swimming pool that occupies the eastern edge of the property, which is surrounded by unique and beautifully-maintained landscaping.

Many areas of the existing home needed to blend seamlessly with new products to ensure the process did not look like an obvious extension. Designer Richard Kirk Architect worked on both the existing home and the extension, and D Pearce Constructions liaised closely with the company to achieve the desired outcome through quality design and good building practices.
