NEWMAN

Newman’s area is well known for beautiful heritage homes with spectacular city views. When the clients purchased their home it was a Pre War character home that was extremely run down and almost unliveable, they wanted to keep the original architecture but also incorporate the Hamptons-style design by Cunningham Designs. This extensive renovation had to also be within Brisbane City Council guidelines and keep some of the existing external walls of the home. This was a challenge for the build as the home had to be slid to the very front of the property for the lower level/basement and pool structure be built which meant 660 cubic metres of dirt and rock was excavated.

While constructing the footing for the basement Brisbane had torrential rain for over a week causing the entire excavation to be filled with muddy water. To get the job back on track our team pumped water out for over two days got the job back on track. When the basement area was complete the home was slid back into its new location and lifted to its current height. A huge amount of structural steel used in the rear of the home to keep the home as open as possible. This home won 'Best Individual Home' at the Master Builders awards in 2014.
